CONSERVE HELIUM
An Essential Resource for All Generations

SCIENCE · HISTORY · STEWARDSHIP

Sources and Methods

Readers should be able to follow a statement back to its evidence and recognize the difference between a documented fact, a forecast and a conservation recommendation.

On this page · Evidence and advocacy · Dates, quantities and uncertainty · The separate RMH archive · Foundation sources · 2026 news sources

Project reference: About and accountability · Contact status and corrections · Review and update record · All topics.

Weekly automated monitoring now covers all 118 registered sources. Editorial review checks substantive changes separately; successful retrieval does not establish factual currentness. The update record identifies current access issues and the news-coverage cutoff.

Evidence and advocacy

Conserve Helium is a conservation project. Its recommendation to retire helium-filled party balloons is an advocacy position. Scientific, historical and policy claims should be traceable to the sources linked beside them.

A source listing does not endorse every statement in a document. Government reports, enacted statutes, technical accounts, manufacturer specifications, company statements and journalism answer different questions.

Dates, quantities and uncertainty

A publication date can differ from an event date or a statistical reporting year. Preserve those distinctions when quoting this library.

Keep units, estimate flags and reporting periods with numerical claims. Resource estimates, annual production, stored inventories and operating rates are not interchangeable.

News coverage currently runs through October 23, 2026. Items labeled as announcements or preprints remain subject to later verification.

The separate RMH archive

The Rocky Mountain Helium, LLC archive is a special project covering 1995–2017. Its narrative and the related Interior/Enron record will be developed after the public foundation sections.

Project organizer Christopher Sullivan has a connection to RMH. The archive will distinguish participant accounts, contracts, contemporaneous records, agency positions and court findings. The general science pages make no claim that RMH supplied a particular clock, MRI system or semiconductor facility.
